Yep, the Flames limped along just as badly to open the 1995-96 season when Theo Fleury, German Titov, Gary Roberts and Michael Nylander’s squad couldn’t buy goals early.

Yet somehow, that team made the playoffs, opening the door for Jarome Iginla to make his Flames debut that spring.

History won’t repeat itself there, although there is a chance that this team’s early misery could also lead to another superstar’s arrival.
