A former school principal who stored about 250 child sexual abuse files on his electronic devices is headed to prison.
John Mangan, 79, of the Lanoka Harbor section of Lacey Township, received a 10-year federal sentence on Tuesday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office District of Ne Jersey. He pleaded guilty to a single count of possession of child sexual abuse material earlier this year.
Mangan, a previously convicted sex offender, was arrested in October 2024 after the digital files were found during a search warrant at his home, authorities said. Federal prosecutors did not say what promoted the search warrant.
In 1997, Mangan was convicted in the sexual assault of a 15-year-old student while working as a school principal and was later sentenced to four years, according to charging documents
