Haunting photographs have revealed the inside of a deserted airport that has remained untouched for almost 50 years – with terminals and aircraft left to decay. ‌

Nicosia International Airport, formerly Cyprus's gleaming main gateway, now stands silent and forsaken, a spectral reminder of the brutal conflict that tore the island apart. ‌

Originally constructed in the 1930s, the facility started out as an RAF base before evolving into the island's primary civilian aviation hub. ‌

After a Turkish assault in 1974, the airport found itself on the battle lines and suffered extensive damage during intense combat.
