Nitish Kumar was unanimously elected as the leader of the Janata Dal (United) Legislature Party during a meeting held at his residence in Patna on Wednesday, marking a crucial step toward the formation of the new Bihar government.

JD(U) MP Sanjay Jha and Union Minister Rajeev Ranjan Singh congratulated Kumar following the meeting.

In a parallel development, the BJP elected Samrat Choudhary as the leader of its legislature party in Bihar, while Vijay Sinha was chosen as the deputy leader. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, who served as the BJP’s central observer for the Bihar elections, formally announced their appointments.

“I announce the names of Samrat Choudhary as the leader of the BJP legislature party and Vijay Kumar Sinha as the deputy leader,” Maurya said
