The House on Tuesday passed a bill that would roll back environmental restrictions on oil drilling in northern Alaska that were brought in during the Biden administration.
The bill , overwhelmingly backed by Republicans, also got support from three Democrats - Representatives Henry Cuellar and Vincente Gonzalez of Texas, and Representative Jim Costa of California.
The 2024 rule implemented under former President Joe Biden prohibited oil and gas leasing on 10.6 million acres of the National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska, and also restricted development on over 2 million additional acres.
