After announcing its decision to contest the upcoming Mumbai municipal corporation elections solo, the Congress is now seeking to bring the Sharad Pawar-led NCP(SP) on board as an alliance partner in Mumbai. On Wednesday, Mumbai Congress chief and Member of Parliament Varsha Gaikwad, along with Congress MLAs from Mumbai—Amin Patel, Aslam Shaikh, and Jyoti Gaikwad—met NCP(SP) supremo Sharad Pawar at his Mumbai residence. NCP(SP) leader Supriya Sule was also present.

According to sources, the Mumbai Congress delegation proposed a formal alliance for the upcoming BMC elections, telling Pawar that NCP(SP) was their “natural alliance partner" and should join hands with them.
