Offense wins games, defense wins championships: a saying as old as time.

For Ramapo, ranked No. 15 in the NJ.com Top 20, that mantra has become the calling card for a program that hasn’t been to the state finals since 2016.

Ramapo (20-1), last gave up a goal in the sectional semifinals to Wayne Valley, and before that, it hadn’t allowed a goal for a little over a month.

On Tuesday evening, Ramapo stuck to the script, and made its presence known on the defensive end, which paved the way for success on the offensive side of the ball.

The beneficiary was Ramapo senior Jordan Hunt, who knocked in two goals to help give No. 15 Ramapo a 3-0 shutout win over Cranford, to punch its ticket to the Group 3 finals.
