After being crowned with the pinnacle of Australian music awards, Amyl and the Sniffers' frontwoman and self-appointed leader of the nation had some announcements.
"As the new prime minister of Australia, I would like to say: all immigrants welcome. I'd like to say land back, the dole's going up, and every pub gets a million dollars," Amy Taylor said after the band won the ARIA album of the year.
The Melbourne-based hard rockers opened their night winning the first ARIA award for best group, adding best cover and best rock album, before closing the ceremony with the album of the year gong.
"What a massive night, what a crazy time. This album has really changed all of our lives, like, oh my God. Probably won't have to work at IGA ever again," Taylor said.
