Radical proposals to criminalise the purchase of sex in Scotland could "endanger" women involved in prostitution, MSPs have been warned. ‌

Siobhian Brown, the Community Safety Minister, said the voices of those who would be directly impacted by the Prostitution (Offences and Support) Bill had not been adequately listened to. ‌

The SNP Government has taken a neutral stance on the legislation but today announced it had "significant concerns" over how it has been drafted. ‌

The law change has been proposed by independent MSP Ash Regan, who quit the Alba Party last month, and would mean people paying for prostitution could be hit with fines of up to £10,000 and face jail time.

The legislation is currently being scrutinised by Holyrood's Justice Committee.
