Two former Australian stars have taken a swing at England’s attacking blueprint on the eve of the Ashes.

England is bringing its BazBall brand to Aussie shores for the first time when the Perth Test starts on Friday.

But Adam Gilchrist and Damien Fleming agree that BazBall has “mellowed out a bit” and refined to “BazBall lite”.

Fleming, speaking at CODE Sports’ Ashes launch, delivered the most pointed review of England’s cricket under former Kiwi Brendon McCullum.

He said the English style was only aggressive with the bat and had failed to produce results.

“I like BazBall because they don’t win a lot. It’s a sexy name, sellable name, but in the end how many World Test Championship finals have they qualified for?” he said.
