MADISON (WKOW)— A Marquette Law School national survey reveals Democrats are leading Republicans in anticipated 2026 congressional voting.

Conducted after the November 5 elections, the survey shows 49% of registered voters plan to vote for a Democrat, while 44% expect to vote for a Republican. For those certain to vote, 53% intend to support a Democrat, with 44% backing a Republican.

Negative views of both parties are prevalent, with opinions nearly evenly divided over which party to blame for the government shutdown. Three-quarters of respondents disapprove of President Trump's handling of the shutdown.

Party loyalty remains strong, with 91% of Republicans and 96% of Democrats supporting their respective candidates.
