Police release identity of woman who died in U.P. apartment fire

KINGSFORD, MI – Police have identified a woman as the victim of a deadly apartment fire in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula over the weekend.

Katrina Miilu, 33, died early Saturday in a second-floor apartment fire on Breitung Avenue in Kingsford, WLUC reports .

After finding Miilu in the upstairs apartment, first responders pulled her out and attempted to resuscitate her but were unsuccessful; she was later pronounced dead, the report said. The first-floor apartments were evacuated, and no other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
