A Boston sushi restaurant has earned the city's first-ever Michelin star , one of the highest honors in the culinary world.
Several notable U.S. restaurants were recognized by the Michelin Guide in a Nov. 18 ceremony , including eateries in New York, Chicago, and Philadelphia. And Boston finally joined the list of foodie destinations, thanks to a newly minted Michelin-starred South End restaurant and an array of other honored Eastern Massachusetts spots.
A Michelin star is a mark of "outstanding cooking," the guide says , judging restaurants on five criteria: ingredient quality, flavor harmony, culinary technique mastery, how the chef's personality "shines" through their cuisine, and consistency across the menu over time.
