In the days since severe rainfall hit Wales and caused flooding, devastating in particular the town of Monmouth , people have been focused on the immediate rescue of possessions and clean-up. But there are also questions about what support will come from government.

Flooding is a devolved matter meaning it falls under the Welsh Government's responsibility, not the UK Government, and it was raised in the Senedd on Tuesday, November 18. But the topic of flooding in Monmouth was then also brought up in the Commons on Wednesday when an urgent question about it was raised by the shadow Welsh secretary Conservative MP Mims Davies.
