KALAMAZOO, MI — A man who was arrested in Texas is facing charges including murder for a killing in Kalamazoo, police said.
Norris Deshane Baker, 35, was arraigned on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025, on charges including open murder related to the November 2024 homicide of Paris Powe.
The charges stem from the fatal shooting of Powe around 10:25 p.m. Nov. 4, 2024, in the 400 block of Egleston Avenue. Another person was shot and injured, police said.
Baker fled the state following the homicide and was taken into custody on Dec. 20, 2024, in Harris County, Texas. He was on parole at the time of the incident, KDPS said.
Baker is also charged with felony firearm (five counts), assault with intent to murder, armed robbery (two counts) and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
