SOUTHAVEN — Ronald Pilkington, who investigators say fled a traffic stop last week leading to an incident that injured a police K-9, is in custody.
Southaven Police Chief Seth Kern expressed gratitude to Tipton County Sheriff Shannon Beasley and the Tipton County Sheriff’s Department for what he described as their “unwavering search” for Pilkington.
Police said Pilkington ran from the stop, prompting officers to pursue him. During the attempt to apprehend him, K-9 Dagger, a three-year-old Belgian Malinois, was struck by a vehicle and injured.
Dagger, who has served with the department for nearly two years, was taken for emergency treatment. He is expected to make a full recovery, according to police. The department thanked Precious Paws Animal Hospital and Memphis Veterinary Specialists
