LeBron James made his season debut — and NBA history in the process.

The Los Angeles Lakers star returned from sciatica on Tuesday night to kick off his 23rd season, breaking a tie with Vince Carter for the most in league history.

James contributed to the Lakers’ 140-126 win at Crypto.com Arena with 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting, three rebounds and a game-high 12 assists in 30 minutes.

“It was just fun to be out there with the guys, man,” James said. “It’s been rough, mentally, for me. This is the first time I’ve started a basketball season and not played since I’ve started playing basketball, like 9 years old. I’ve never missed the beginning of a basketball season.”

James, 40, missed the first 14 games of the season as he dealt with sciatica, a nerve issue affecting his lower half.
