A man charged with trying to help his brother escape after a fatal shooting in St. John’s six months ago is going straight to trial.
Twenty-three-year-old Hussein Hussein is formally charged with accessory to murder after the fact, and resisting or obstructing police.
He and his brother, 20-year-old Ibrahim Hussein, were arrested after 33-year-old Gerald Kyle “Scrappy” Hynes was gunned down in April on Watson Street.
They were on the run for two days before being caught in the Marine Atlantic parking lot at Port aux Basques, with the younger brother found hiding in the trunk of the getaway car.
