ROCK HILL, S.C. (WIS) - A South Carolina woman is facing charges after allegedly trying to terminate her pregnancy.

The Rock Hill Police Department said 20-year-old Jocelyn Byrum was arrested on Nov. 17 and charged with attempted murder and unlawful neglect of a child.

According to police, Byrum revealed during an investigation that she took medicine to induce labor while she was 27 weeks pregnant. She also allegedly did not render any aid or call for emergency services for the newborn after giving birth.

The department said the investigation began on Nov. 12 during a call to assist emergency medical services, where a caller stated that Byrum had experienced a miscarriage. After officers arrived at the scene, Byrum reportedly admitted that she had taken medicine to induce labor and inte
