Disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein has become the centre of a political storm in the United States, as the US Congress agreed to order the Justice Department to release its files related to the sex offender.
While the Senate had already said it would pass the bill even before it officially received it, the House of Representatives have okayed it in a 427-1 vote. US President Donald Trump had earlier cast the files as a distraction, but reversed his stance by urging the Congress to release the Epstein files amid strong public pressure from his supporters.
