MONROE COUNTY, Michigan — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Division is increasing enforcement after several dogs and cats were recently found abandoned and neglected in remote areas of Berlin Township, according to a Tuesday press release.
The sheriff's office said the cases, reported Nov. 16 near Roberts and Reaume roads, involved animals left without food, water or shelter. Many were suffering from exposure and malnutrition. Animal control officers, assisted by vigilant residents, were able to rescue several of the animals and are now receiving medical care and rehabilitation through the Humane Society of Monroe County.
