A celebration will be held this week for the 40th anniversary of a child advocacy program that is used by the Hamilton County Juvenile Court.
Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA, serves as the ‘eyes and ears’ of the court in cases of abuse, dependency, and neglect.
Tennessee has CASA programs in 60 counties across the state that have served almost 4,800 children.
More than 1,400 volunteers have supported court efforts, dedicating a total of 153,386 hours which amount to $5.3 million in volunteer time.
The programs have saved $41.7 million for taxpayers in fiscal year 2025.
Judge Rob Philyaw and juvenile court staff will welcome volunteers, families, and friends from the CASA program in Hamilton County to celebrate the impact its made over the last four decades.
