GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids is getting ready to sing and dance all night long as the Acrisure Amphitheater announced its opening act next spring.
Singer-songwriter Lionel Richie himself announced through a recorded video at a news conference on Wednesday morning that he'll be the first artist to grace the city's newest venue.
"I am so honored to be the first artist to perform at the Acrisure Amphitheater," Richie said. "Congratulations, you all, and let me tell you, the energy is out there. I can feel the buzz already."
The opening concert is set for Friday, May 15, 2026. Tickets go on sale this Friday, Nov. 21.
Michigan-based The War and Treaty and Grand Rapids' own Brian Vander Ark will also perform on opening night.
The $184 million amphitheater has been under construction
