A political row erupted over the Trinamool Congress Mahua Moitra’s post about the arrest of a poll official in Bangladesh, which she captioned as “things to come".

Moitra’s post drew immediate condemnation from the BJP, which interpreted it as a veiled threat against the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Moitra shared the post on her social media, featuring an old photograph of a former Bangladesh election commissioner being detained by security personnel. Her post was slammed by the BJP for specifically hinting at a potential “Dhaka-style" arrest of the chief election commissioner (CEC).
