A man was killed in a fire at a home in Mashpee early Wednesday morning.

The fatal fire broke out before 3:20 a.m. on Wednesday at a manufactured home and a neighbor called 911, according to a spokesperson for the state Department of Fire Services.

Firefighters had to cut through the wall of the home to get inside due to a large hole burnt through the floor, the spokesperson said.

An unresponsive adult man was discovered within the home, the spokesperson said. He was the only person inside the home at the time.

Despite firefighters’ attempts to save his life, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The man’s home had major damage from the fire, with the interior quickly overtaken by flames.
