It seems every week there is a new story about some kind of nonsense going on in America's national parks. From the tourist who decided to walk towards a wolf pack in Yellowstone National Park to a vandalized dinosaur fossil at Gettysburg National Military Park , there's always some kind of drama going on somewhere in the national park system. Or is there?
It turns out, national parks may be a lot more laid-back than media headlines make them out to be. A new study by Noah D. Cohen and M. Dylan Spencer has been published in the Journal of Outdoor Recreation and Tourism. The study spanned over 20 years and looked at "disorder," or minor/civil infractions, in four major national parks in the U.S.
The pair found that disorderly behavior is actually extremely uncommon in national parks
