A city of Phoenix food drive that started during the suspension of SNAP benefits during the federal government shutdown is continuing into January.
“We’ve extended it into January because we know food insecurity does not just occur because of a federal shutdown or due to the holidays. The need is there all year long,” Phoenix Human Services Director Jacqueline Edwards told a Phoenix subcommittee on Tuesday.
The food drive is in partnership with St. Mary’s Food Bank. Residents are encouraged to donate food items, money or volunteer their time. Learn more at Phoenix.gov/HungerRelief.
