Alabama residents may soon have a clearer idea of when the $2,000 tariff dividend checks could arrive, after President Donald Trump provided an update to reporters in the Oval Office on Nov. 17.
"We've taken in hundreds of millions of dollars in tariff money. We're going to be issuing dividends later on, some somewhere prior to, probably the middle of next year, a little bit later than that. Thousands of dollars for individuals of moderate income, middle income." Trump said .
The idea of the checks was first floated in July, but in a Truth Social post dated Nov. 9, Trump highlighted the United States' global economic standing, emphasizing the tariffs recently imposed and promising a dividend of at least $2,000 per person, excluding high earners.
