Portland Public Schools this week said it will recommend the school board approve a construction management contract with Texas-based Procedeo to oversee nearly $1.4 billion in taxpayer dollars to build three new high schools over the next five years.

If approved by the school board, the firm would manage some of the largest construction projects on the horizon in the metro area.

The recommendation comes after current and former board members and several district employees have publicly and privately expressed skepticism of Procedeo’s surface-level insight and deliverables in two existing contracts with the district worth $637,000.
