MADISON, Wis. (WBAY) - Friday marks four years since a man plowed his SUV through a Christmas parade in Waukesha, killing six people.

Governor Tony Evers has ordered all flags across Wisconsin to be at half-staff on Friday to commemorate those who lost their lives in what’s now referred to as the Waukesha Christmas Parade attack.

Darrell Brooks drove his SUV head-on into the city’s Christmas parade in 2021, hitting multiple people. The deadly act killed six and injured over 70 more.

Brooks is currently serving six life sentences following a jury trial and conviction. He represented himself during his 2022 trial, was combative, removed from the court room several times, and even appeared shirtless at one time. He is currently in the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls.
