SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (WMC) - A DeSoto County youth minister is facing allegations of failure to report a sex crime against a child.

Southaven police confirm to Action News 5, 38-year-old Jonathan Colvin failed to notify authorities about child sexual abuse — which is a legal requirement for pastors, teachers, coaches, and anyone working directly with children in Mississippi.

Jonathan Colvin is the youth and family minister at Goodman Oaks Church of Christ in Southaven, according to the church’s website ,

Southaven police say the incident is still under investigation and they cannot answer further questions.

Action News 5 has reached out to District Attorney Matthew Barton and the church for comment.

Colvin is out of jail on a $500 bond. He’s due back in court on December 3.
