St. Clair County will not seek continuation funding to reopen the Yale Bulldog Health Clinic after the physician slated to oversee the program withdrew his interest earlier this month.

Health Officer Liz King told the Health Department Advisory Board on Wednesday, Nov. 19, that Dr. George Carley’s withdrawal left no viable path to meet state deadlines or secure required clinical oversight for the school-based site.

King said the county now plans to decline the next round of Michigan Department of Health and Human Services grant dollars that would have funded the clinic. The move affects only the clinic inside Yale High School. The Port Huron Teen Health Center at Port Huron High School will continue under the county Health Department.
