The 154th racing season at the Fair Grounds Race Course will begin Thursday at the historic race course in Gentilly. A look at some top trainers to watch at the 2025-2026 meet:

Brad Cox

The Louisville, Ky., native enters the meet as the nation’s leading trainer with more than $27 million in earnings so far this year. The two-time Eclipse Award-winning trainer of the year won four consecutive leading trainer titles at the Fair Grounds from 2016 to 2020. Cox always has a powerhouse barn, including a strong stable of top Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks contenders. Cox won the 2024 Louisiana Derby with Catching Freedom and has won the last two Fair Grounds Oaks with Tarifa and Good Cheer.
