Over 600 new child-care spaces will be coming to the area after receiving approval from the provincial government.
All 637 Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) Directed Growth Strategy spaces allocated to the region by the Ontario government have got the necessary approvals, and construction and program development are now underway, counties officials said this week.

According to the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, all 637 spaces are expected to be operational by Dec. 31, 2026.
“This initiative is being funded by the Government of Canada and Government of Ontario, under the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement, which supports the creation of affordable, high-quality licensed child care across the province,” county officials added.
