A Pennsylvania man was jailed, with bail set at $500,000, after allegedly shooting at four hunters – and firing a bullet into their truck – after a confrontation earlier this month.

WHTM reported that Richard Imes, 63, of Mifflin, was said by Pennsylvania State Police to have admitted shooting toward the hunters as they drove away.

Imes told police that he thought the men were hunting deer on or near his Juniata County property. But according to court documents filed Monday, the hunters were targeting predatory animals legally in the area.

Imes is alleged to have pointed a pistol at one of the hunters as the group was about to leave. As the hunters drove off, they heard a shot, which apparently struck their truck’s tailgate.

Imes faces felony and misdemeanor assault charges, along with reckless endangerment charges, according to WHTM. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 3.
