WASHINGTON, D.C. – A new report reveals a significant increase in serious aviation incidents involving the military across the United States.
The Pentagon provided this data to Congress, highlighting a roughly 55 percent rise in the most serious Class A mishaps in 2024 compared to four years earlier.
The Marine Corps experienced the largest increase, nearly tripling its rate of incidents.
The report covers the first 10 months of the 2024 budget year, during which 25 service members and defense employees were killed and 14 aircraft were destroyed.
The sharp rise in incidents has raised concerns about military aviation safety and operational readiness.
