MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia University’s School of Music is ushering in the holiday season with a series of concerts showcasing student musicians, vocalists and the iconic “Pride of West Virginia” Mountaineer Marching Band.
The lineup begins Wednesday, Nov. 20, when the WVU Symphony Orchestra presents a free performance at 7:30 p.m. in the Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre at the Canady Creative Arts Center. The program includes Emmanuel Chabrier’s España, Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 and movements III–IV of Dmitri Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No. 1, featuring Young Artist Competition winner Samantha Wolf. The concert is open to the public and will also be livestreamed.
