Auburn professors face no legal consequences for not turning in an anti-DEI law course compliance form , but it’s unclear if they could lose their jobs, according to a special-called faculty meeting.
AL.com obtained a recording of a Nov. 12 faculty senate meeting with the provost and general counsel. The goal was to answer lingering questions from professors about compliance forms sent to faculty on Oct. 31.
Auburn offered 22 consultation sessions since Oct. 31. About 20 minutes of the faculty senate meeting was dedicated to repeating information from the sessions, in case some attendees were absent.
The October 2024 Alabama law states “we cannot compel students to assent to a divisive concept,” deputy general counsel Maran White said at the meeting.
