The City of Orillia and Orillia Soldier’s Memorial Hospital have a deal in which the Orillia Rec Centre will be designated as an evacuation location should the hospital face a partial or full evacuation.
The Memorandum of Understanding was annouced today – The MOU outlines the roles, responsibilities, and procedures to be followed should OSMH face a catastrophe such as fire, structural failure, or other emergencies that render the hospital partially or fully inoperable.
The Recreation Centre could be designated an evacuation centre in as little as an hour and remain operational for up to one week which would provide ample time for patients to be discharged or transferred to another hospital.
