Although Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits (SNAP) have been reinstated following the government shutdown, one Bozeman-based group isn’t stopping its mission to ensure residents don’t have to worry about their next meal.

The Bozeman Mutual Aid Community formed earlier this month after founder Crikett Viall witnessed the panic, fear and anxiety spreading among neighbors locally and across the country as benefits temporarily disappeared.

Seeing the growing need, Viall took matters into her own hands. She booked space at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds and put out a call to action to help feed those who could no longer feed themselves.
