Gov. Tina Kotek announced a broad-reaching climate executive order Nov. 19 focused on reaching Oregon's clean energy goals.
The order directs some state agencies to put strategies from a recent energy report into place, develop a process to simplify the creation of new energy projects and expand the state's "clean energy economy."
"Oregon faces escalating climate impacts, from record wildfires to extreme weather events that hit vulnerable communities hardest. Meanwhile, we must continue to make progress on our carbon pollution reduction goals and support reliable, affordable clean energy,” Kotek said in a statement.
The order directs agencies to assess their current plans and performance measures and update them as needed to implement recommended pathways from the Oregon Energy Strateg
