CLEVELAND — Canton is in sight!
We're halfway through the Ohio high school football playoffs, and 20 teams from WKYC's 17-county viewing area remain in contention for state championships across six different divisions (no local teams are left in Division V). Things get really interesting this Friday with the regional finals, with schools finally heading to neutral sites to battle for precious spots in the state semis next week.
Of the 28 regional final matchups, 12 will feature at least one Northeast Ohio team, with eight pitting two local schools against each other. Among the contenders, two (Avon and Indian Valley) won state titles only a year ago, while others (like 11-seed Danville) are attempting to shock the world with remarkable Cinderella runs.
