New Orleans city leaders are preparing for the deployment of hundreds of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in the city and across Southeast Louisiana and Mississippi. Advertisement

New Orleans Mayor-elect Helena Moreno expressed concerns about the operation.

"I am concerned, and there is a lot of concern in the community as well. Once I receive more information, I do plan on putting out a level of guidance for individuals who may be feeling very concerned," Moreno said.

Officials have announced that 250 Border Patrol agents could arrive as soon as Friday to begin "Operation Swamp Sweep" on Dec. 1.

Similar actions in other Democratic-led cities like Chicago, Charlotte and Los Angeles have been met with protests and outrage.
