Erin Clinton, an art teacher at McKinley STEMM Academy, has plans for her students.
One of four teachers at the school to win a $5,000 grant from Battelle and the Ohio STEM Learning Network, Ms. Clinton is going to showcase how art works in STEM.
“I was very surprised to have won,” Ms. Clinton said. “This was the first time I applied for the grant. There are just so many deserving educators out there. This grant really is an honor.”
Nine teachers in three Toledo Public Schools won a total of $45,000 in classroom STEM grants from Battelle, a private nonprofit applied science and technology development company headquartered in Columbus.
In addition to the four teachers at McKinley, four teachers at Hawkins STEAM Academy and one at Marshall STEMM Academy also won grants of $5,000 each.
