Hector Garza, the longtime Democratic Chairman for Smith County, has announced his resignation as he declares his candidacy for the Texas House of Representatives.
The Smith County Democratic Party County Executive Committee formally accepted Garza's resignation Tuesday. Garza is now seeking candidacy for Texas House District 5, which is currently occupied by Cole Hefner (R-Mount Pleasant).
