BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — After more than 20 years, the city of Bowling Green will start the new year with a new public transit provider to save an estimated $100,000 yearly.
The city's service is a demand-response public transit, where customers call to schedule when and where they need to be picked up and dropped off. According to the city, BG Transit provides roughly 28,000 to 29,000 rides per year.
Scott Potter, co-owner of Black & White Transportation, said he and his wife had to raise their prices but that he's thankful for the relationship.
"Back then, we were just a cab company," Potter said. "Getting a public transit contract really got us in the door and it was a feather in our cap."
The new provider is Groome Transportation, which was chosen after four bids earlier this year. Wh
