Melania Trump and Usha Vance took their first trip together, visiting Marine Corps members and their relatives in North Carolina to mark the approach of Thanksgiving and salute military families.
The wives of President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, a former Marine, visited a high school and elementary school and addressed hundreds of cheering, uniformed Marines at Camp Lejeune, the largest Marine Corps base on the East Coast, and Marine Corps Air Station New River.
“Military families are truly a model for our country and for my own family,” said Second Lady Usha Vance, speaking from a stage flanked by more than 1,000 Marines in unform as well as parked tanks and helicopters
The wives of President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, a former Marine, landed in the town of Richlands and were visiting with military personnel and their families at Camp Lejeune, the largest Marine Corps base on the East Coast, and Marine Corps Air Station New River, which is located in the same area.
They wanted to show appreciation for military service and sacrifice as the holidays approach. “My husband, the president, is sending best regards. We are both thinking of you,” Trump said at Camp Lejeune High School.
