The Saskatchewan Roughriders defeated the Montreal Alouettes in the Grey Cup on Sunday and although there were no local players on either team, Brantford was represented in another extremely important way.
Selected to his first Grey Cup, Brantford’s Marc Cobb was an official, working as the down judge at the Canadian Football League’s championship game in Winnipeg.
“It was pretty emotional,” Cobb said of finding out he would be working the game.
“It was a culmination of all those years of hard work. I can’t get any higher than that in this country.
“It was a feeling of relief that I got the big game but then it was, wait a minute. I got the big game. I have to do a job now.”
An official since 2002, Cobb certainly earned his way onto the field.
