LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - A Mid-Michigan lawmaker is leading the charge to allow 18-year-olds to carry concealed weapons.

State Rep. Jason Woolford (R-Howell) says, if an 18-year-old can be trusted to go to war or cast a vote, they’re old enough to have a concealed pistol license.

“It’s a constitutional right and we’ve got to fix this contradiction,” he told News 10. “We let 18-year-olds openly carry a handgun, but they say they’re too immature to put on a coat and carry a concealed until they’re 21 years old.”

As a gun violence prevention activist for the Lansing Empowerment Network, and concealed pistol license instructor, Mike Lynn is an expert on firearm safety.
