ASHVILLE, Ohio — A global data center company, EdgeConneX, is making plans to build on 680 acres of farmland in Ashville in Pickaway County.

The data center would be built north of state Route 752 towards Weigand Road.

The plans have drawn criticism from some residents who planned to protest at an informational meeting with village leaders and the company.

“We are not open to selling out our future and our kids' future for a quick payout," said Rachael Martin who grew up in Ashville. "We want to find something else."

If the data center is approved, Bert Cline, the village administrator, said it could bring major financial benefits to the small town.
